Search Console, and basic training on how to use the platform.
Google Search Console is a free service that aids digital
marketers and web developers in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting their site’s presence
and ranking in Google Search results. The platform assists users in understanding, improving, and
optimizing their website for search engines by offering a variety of tools, reports, and features,
including:
Monitoring website performance through Google’s Search traffic data. The
performance dashboard reveals how often the site appears in Google Search, which search queries
show the site, how often searchers click through for those queries, and more.
Confirming that Google can find and crawl the site. Users can request Google to
index new pages, re-index updated content or remove/not index pages.
Receiving alerts when Google encounters indexing, spam, or other issues on the
site.
Checking and submitting sitemaps.
Checking the indexing of webpages, the crawl rate and indexing statistics/details,
including crawling issues and errors.
Inspecting URLs.
Viewing details of external (inbound) and internal pages linking to the website.
Viewing user experience reports on page performance on mobile and desktop devices,
and troubleshooting performance issues.
Checking the security issues, if any, with the website, including hacked site and
malware attacks.
Adding or removing the property owners and associates of the web property.
The performance dashboard reports four metrics — page impressions, clicks and CTR, and
the average position that the page appears on SERP — across 6 dimensions — queries, pages, countries,
devices and time (dates). This is vital information that empowers digital marketers. They must ensure
that they have continuous ongoing access to the platform, and acquire the skills to navigate dashboards
and interpret the data.
