In Snowball Sampling
respondents are asked to identify or recruit other individuals who they believe fit the
criteria for the survey. This method is particularly useful when the target population is hard
to reach or when there is limited information about the population. However, snowball sampling
can result in a biased sample if there are underlying connections or characteristics shared
among the participants.
Like purposeful sampling, snowball sampling is typically used in exploratory or qualitative
research studies where the goal is not statistical inference but rather gaining insights or
understanding specific phenomena.
